I've been building SBC part -time for almost ten years now. There is over ten thousand dollars under the hood of this 1984 Monte Carlo. This is a 305 SBC bored to almost 310ci. It has all the bells and whistles. All Chrome, All MSD, All Comp Cam's stuff, All Be Cool, All Billet Specialties, ARP, Optima, Edelbrock, Hooker, Remote power steering reservoir, There is a Comp XE262 cam inside with heads I ported and alot more inside.
Thanks

  • could any one help me. i have a 84 monte carlo that came with a v6 and im going drop a 383 stroker in the car and was wondering if need to get a shorter drive shaft or anything? thanks

  • @moneymaka775

I'm sure it's not the 4.3 v6, so alot will be needed. drive shaft length, trans and mounts, motor mounts moved, radiator and radiator mounts,, possibly different front springs and shocks.

It can be done, but if your not sentimentally attached to this car, I've learned it's best to go with a good canidate right off.

I know you got to use what you got tho,,, it's just alot more than the drive shaft will need to be changed,, let me know if I can help Good luck,,

  • My only thought.... if you're spending that kind of money on an engine, why not a 350, 383, or bigger? A lot more torque to be had just from the displacement....

  • @Doober12082 I couldn't agree more, This isn't my vehicle,, I just did the work. I begged him to go 350ci+, but he wouldn't budge. It pulls hard for a little 305(309.9),, just not like bigger displacement would have been,,,,,

  • how much HP?

  • I haven't had it on dyno. The owner just installed 4:10 Posi w/700r4 trans. He has 22" wheels and let me tell you with 22" wheels it is FAST. It will smoke the tires right off,,, he can afford that :). I need to get an updated video and will soon. Thanks

  • Seriously 10k on a 305. It would have been put to better use if you wiped your ass with the 10k.

  • @Driver4r why such a hater?

  • why such gay wheels?

  • ima pay for all you guys to attend a 305 hater class

  • @troutdog311 Strange... Maybe he bought the car new and having the original motor was important to him? Gotta be the baddest small-bore small-block I've ever seen. I was about to say "this is the only car where I wouldnt replace the 305 cuz its so on point" but than I thought to myself "well I've got this nice four-bolt 350 that would really love to have all those parts and she would quite comfy in the Monte"

  • i really hope u didnt invest all that 10K in a 305

  • @moneymaka775

Hey man, I saw you comment on my video and noticed you had a question about converting from the 4.3 to a 383. It is very easy and you do not have to replace the drive shaft!!! your frame already has holes drilled that you need to move the frame mounts forward. email me for more details if you want.

  • @troutdog311 it came a v6 4.3L and im changing it witha 383 stroker . what kind of car would i need to get the drive shaft from. thanks
