A small demonstration of the bootup length on a first generation macbook : 1.83ghz, 2GB ram, 60GB HD, intel core duo running on Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 .

A mere ~ 21 seconds or so, not bad at all considering the hard drive is well over 70% consumed (damned be these 60GB drives)

  • I getting one of these second hand soon, do you know what type of ram it takes?

  • @LeightonW87

Is it a first generation model ? You can check to see in the Appe>About This Mac> More Info> Hardware Overview tab. If it's listed as a 1.1 it is indeed a 1st gen model.

If so, it will only take up to 2GB of memory.Specifically: DDR2 SDRAM, PC2-5300, 667 MHz, 200 pin. Good luck with it !

  • Imm typing this on the same laptop, same specs! I love it, does yours still work?

  • @BSUMusic

Of course I still have it. Looks and runs flawlessly after over 5 years of crazy uptimes. Now running with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and also dual booting it with PC-BSD 9 as well !
