When buying a laptop for music production, consider the strength and power of the computer processor, the amount of RAM, the stability and the available tools for the system. Consider buying a Macintosh computer to record music, as they tend to be more stable and powerful, with information from a recording studio engineer in this free video on music recording.

Expert: Brad Winslow
Bio: Brad Wilnslow has worked in the music production industry for over ten years.

  • mmmmh! as alway expertville nonsense.

You get the same pops and cracles on a MAC if you don't turn the wi-fi off... if the buffers are too low you get CUP clips.. ALSO! on MAC laptops you need extra HD to record into.. you never record on the OS drive mr. expert.... MAC or Windows...

By the way! MAC is a PC dude!! NOw mac are faster thanx to INTEL.. a company that was booed by Mac users for decades... NOW they feel the power of PC.... MAN!! lol

  • i want to make just ambient music and a friend of mine is getting me a lap top. i can do this withoiut a key board and would i need all that power? also i'm behindthe times I'm assuming that you can record music all in one package?

    sorry for dumb questions

  • @djphattraxx Just buy a little usb audio interface behringer uca222 will work just fine, it also take's the stress out of your build in audio card, which probably is allot poorer in quality.

P.s. If you only need one line in and one line out, dont buy the real expensive stuff it isn't necessary.
