Naked Japanese Men Festival

In the thousands of drunken Japanese men wrestle in loin clothes for small, sacred objects that bring luck for the next year.

In late February hordes of nigh naked men clad in loincloths gather at Saidai-ji Temple in Okayama to compete for a prized sacred stick known as shingen. Whoever receives the shingen is believed to receive good luck and happiness. The festival is known as Saidai-ji Eyo Hadaka Matsuri.

Fights will often break out and men get squished together. Men have been known to die at the festival in the past.
