Firstly, I know the audio quality is poor and you may not be able to tell a difference between the two audio clips but the video was still requested with these facts in mind.
Conclusions: The D71EE has a much richer and brighter tone to it but the N500 has kicks out a little more bass, nothing an equalizer can't fix though. I heard a little more distortion with the D71EE than I did with the N500 but my tracking isn't perfect but the cartridge might be to blame also.
Overall I think the D71EE sounds better than the 500N but not by a lot. The D71EE produces a cleaner sound and richer highs but the 500N has a tiny bit more of a kick when it comes to bass. Like I said, not a big issue.
Your conclusions are just what I expected them to be... The elliptical stylus will reproduce any distortion on the record just a faithfully as the detail it also brings out of the music. It's sort of a good-with-the-bad thing.. Which one will sound best depends on the condition of 7the record and they way it was cut. Even with the bad audio, I can hear that the D71EE is more detailed and brighter. :) JC
