Part 2 of 2. Edited post of the premiere episode of the weekly TV series SOLID GOLD. Starring Dionne Warwick and THE SOLID GOLD DANCERS. This is the episode that launched 8 seasons of weekly television history. In this episode the dancers perform with Irene Cara ("Fame") and Chuck Berry ("Johnny Be Good"). The dancers also do a "countdown" but it's like nothing we're used to seeing.

  • didnt ol chuck get in trouble for making a girl drink his piss or something to that effect?

  • Don't know, I haven't heard anything like that.

  • Ah Yes! Your correct name is on the watermark. Since I commented elsewhere on the eccentric but fun choreography of sweet Deborah and Pam, there is another component to the stiff legged forward walk I don't object to that involves shaking. I try to be polite. Plus they do the hitchhike gesture wtih silver gloves. I'm analytical this week.

  • I can see that!! At least the rest of the number was not so objectionable! lol

  • hehehe...yeah he did I looked it up and he did do that ..there is even a video omg....you know whats funny is that this is a real live performance ..most other bands that I have seen on your solid gold vids they are lip syncing ...they prolly told ol Chuck to lip sync too but Chuck wouldnt have any of that ...I can imagine him threatening to piss on the producers if he wasnt allowed to play live....lol...omg too funny

  • Thanks for posting lbCharmed1, Chuck's got em' Rockin'!!

  • I agree with you - with the return of Dionne, the show started to go back to the show we all loved growing up, but like you said, when the execs at Paramount Television got rid of most of the popular dancers, and jacked around with the tride and true format (along with Charlie O'Donnell and the other announcer taking Robert W.'s place), that sunk the show for good!

  • Well, true, but the Rick Dees thing was something they (seemingly) recovered from with the return of Dionne. The show revamp and the miscalculation of the "execs" about the popularity of the dancers is what not only killed them but cremated them beyond recovery after season 6 ended . . . in my opinion.
