Health and Wellness Action Advocates (HWAA) are a monthly gathering of people who have first hand experience in the mental health service system. We self identify as peers, survivors, consumers and/or clients. We are an interactive advocacy group dedicated to improving housing and mental health services for all people with psychiatric disabilities in San Francisco.
Health and Wellness Action Advocates made their way up to Sacramento on May 27th to take part in California's National Disability Day. This is where over 2000 individuals with disabilities came to show their support as a whole and fight against the constant budget cuts. HWAA members got the chance to speak to our Senator Tom Ammiano and share their concerns about behavioral health services in San Francisco. HWAA had a great day supporting their services.
