I would actually lol tho if this did end up creating a black hole which killed us all.

Or a new universe within the LHC.

Perhaps our universe was created by an experiment the same as this, and we are currently residing in a universe inside a particle accelerator.

I feel safer having this switched on, something Stephen Hawking himself said is perfectly safe, than I do in the knowledge that America has the nuclear capability to destroy the earth many times over.

There is no chance no small chance. Like I said the second a black hole forms the mass can not be sustained therfore the second it forms it will collapse. Every thing is balanced. Think of it this was as well. The Earth right now at this second is getting bombarded by particles that are 3x times stronger and more powerful than whats going on in this LHC ... That should tell you something.

The amount of energy released in the collision isn't enough to power a flashlight. Everything is at the atomic level. You are safe.

I have a good idea: eveyone who thinks the world is going to ende should give ten dollars to unicef. YOu won't miss it if the world is swallowed up by a black hole.

Maybe giving millions of bonuses to bank managers, spending trillions on our military etc could get some of your flak before something thats actually scientific and actually beneficial?

There is no way in hell a black hole can come from this and destroy our planet. Mass that small would dissapperate before gaining more mass to become a black hole. Honestly there is a better chance of 12 21 2012 happening than getting a black hole from this.

Think of how many trillions of dollars have been spent invading Afghanistan and Iraq and maintaining presence there, the LHC has cost less than $10 billion dollars, closer to $6 billion actually.

So when you look at it, a massive scientific exploit like this, is a tiny tiny fraction of the cost of killing hundreds of thousands of people.
