Probably the best ever performance of one of the most beautifully written songs ever.

I challenge anyone to watch this all the way through (and actually listen to it) and not shed a tear or two. Spectacular.

The existing bootleg DVD of the show mixed in with some pro-shot footage from the documentary on the official Live in NYC DVD.

Audio dubbed with Flynn's "Good Night for a Ride" 2-IEM/2-AUD mix.

Enjoy

Alternate lyrical version, as fans will know (last verse)
We played king of the mountain,
out on the end.
The world come chargin' up the hill,
and we were women and men.
Now there's so much that time,
time and memory fades away.
We've got our own roads to ride,
and chances we got to take.
We stood side by side,
each one fightin' for the other.
We swore until we died,
we'd always be,
blood brothers.

Now the hardness of this world,
slowly grinds your dreams away.
Makin' a fool's joke,
out of the promises we made.
And what once seemed black and white,
turns to so many shades of gray.
We lose ourselves in work to do,
work to do and bills to pay.
And it's a ride, ride, ride,
and there ain't much cover.
With no one runnin' by your side,
my blood brother.

On through the houses of the dead,
past those fallen in their tracks.
Always movin' ahead,
and never lookin' back.

Now I'm out here on this road,
alone on this road tonight.
I close my eyes and feel so many friends around me,
in the early evening light.
In the miles we have come,
in the battles won and lost,
are just so many roads travelled,
so many rivers crossed.

Now I ask God for the strength,
and faith in one another.
'cos it's a good night for a ride,
cross this river to the other side,
my blood brother...

  • And now TWO of these Blood Brothers are no longer with us--at least in this realm. But Danny and The Big Man will live forever in the Heart of E-Street Nation.

  • Figured I wouldn't be the only one making a beeline to this video after the news broke. RIP Clarence.

  • Man....Danny and Clarence must be watching this form above. It is painful for me to go and see Bruce without both of them, it hurts.

  • The boss and Clarence are and always will be BLOOD BROTHERS..R.I.P our friend Clarence...

  • Just an unbelievable great song and a fantastic live version.... there's nothing more to say...

  • Definatley shed a tear, and can't believe they didn't put it on the live on NYC DVD! thanks

  • Listen to it maybe but watch, hell no. I didn't make it past 20 seconds with that jittery camera. Unwatchable.

  • It must be a variation of "Bob Dylan's Dream", those two are so familiar. Doesnt make this one her one bit less magnificient, so full of thruth and greatness.

  • Absolutely the best version of this spectacular song. Bruce has so, so many great songs but in so many ways, this is his best as it touches me in so may ways. Can't believe this performance was left off the NYC DVD.

  • can i double like

  • don't like his political views and to much proud of America Mr.Springsteen!

Giving wars and catastrophes to the world the polticians and militaries of US.

Think he is a bit wiser than them and love his voice and some songs!

This one is one of my favourites ever! Thanks for the music! From Germany!

  • teardrops in my eyes...
