MADAME SARKOZY
There are not a lot of fun (legal) things that teenagers can do for free these days. On Sunday, BBC Switch Live came to the rescue with a four-hour concert of diverse acts at the Hammersmith Apollo. And the best bit? No adults allowed. Last October, BBC launched its multi-platform teen strand, "Switch", using TV, radio and online to entertain 12- to 18-year-olds and Sunday marked the brand's first live event. With all 4,500 tickets being snapped up in less than four minutes and girls making up 90 per cent of the audience, it was not surprising that deafening screeches could be heard around Hammersmith First on were the faux-rock pop band, McFly, a handsome, squeaky-clean foursome whose edgiest feature is probably their pierced ears. They had the crowd in near hysteria from opener "One for the Radio", and the screaming didn't let up as they energetically jumped around with their guitars to a collection of hits. It was hard to believe they'd just got off a plane from Brazil Unless you are a 13-year-old girl or the parent of a 13-year-old girl, you can be forgiven for not knowing who Miley Cyrus is, but the Disney pop star/actress is big news in this demographic. This was the 15-year-old's first UK gig as herself as opposed to her TV alter-ego, Hannah Montana, and she lived up to expectations with an impeccably choreographed set, showcasing songs from her album, Breakout. In between tracks, the precocious Tennessee belle predictably gushed about how she loved British boys and the accent Other highlights were the dapper American R'n'B sensation, Ne-Yo, who delivered a superbly slick performance, Basshunter, who quickly turned the Apollo into a Magaluf nightclub with his Eurotrance club hits and pop-punk/emo band, Fall Out Boy, who closed the show with bassist, Pete Wentz, stage diving into the frenzied crowd. He was lucky to get out alive Switch Live was a reminder that not all teenagers are glue-sniffing, sex-crazed skivers, as some of the media would suggest, but kids who just want to have fun with their friends and be entertained It was a risk for the BBC to have such an eclectic line-up (no matter how mainstream the acts were) and it could have gone horribly wrong. But as Miley fans moshed to Fall Out Boy and McFly enthusiasts bopped to Basshunter, it seemed for a few hours that every teen tribe could just get along A citizen of the United States, Miley Cyrus has expressed her admiration for British boys, telling reporters at London's BBC "The Switch Live" gig on Sunday, October 12 she even has fallen in love with 20 of them from the first time she got into the nation. "The accents sound so intelligent," she said I love the way the guys are so classy and wear trenchcoats," Miley said further about British guys. Greater than that, the Disney star even expressed her willingness to stay in the U.K., admitting "I've phoned my dad and told him not to expect me home. I want to live here Miley has been in the U.K. for the sake of her first concert there. Her weekend appearance on BBC's "The Switch Live", held at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, marked her first performance in the nation. She was joined on-stage by Fall Out Boy and Ne-Yo. Personally, Miley has been rumored to be dating model Justin Gaston. The twosome added fuel to the romance talks with them being photographed together at many MADAME SARKOZY occasions. Recently, her singer father Billy Ray Cyrus has been quoted by Access Hollywood as singing his praise for the young boy, claiming "He actually reminds me a lot of myself when I was 20 years old and I was living and searching for the dream Justin, elsewhere, has been snapped bicycling around the block in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon, October 13 with Miley's younger sister Noah. They were also joined by Samuel Hancock, the boyfriend of Miley's older sister, Brandi. Typical! You're the world-famous Kelly Osbourne. You're called in by the BBC to help host one of their biggest ever bashes at the Hammersmith Apollo. McFly's there. So's Miley Cyrus, Fall Out Boy and Ne-Yo. Please, oh please let it all go well. And then your wig slips over your eyes, and well, all you can do is laugh. Except it's not a wig. Doh! Kelly) just had a cool black bob which maybe needed a little trim here and there, that's all.Kelly, who is dating model and Village of the Damned lookalike, Luke Worrell, wore a sedate above the knee black number with a sheer top half and matching mic. Not that sheer though, and very much the top of the top half. MADAME SARKOZY
