i used to think these flags were a harmless thing that little girls waved around in church, an expression of worship, but i'm not so sure. here it is being used like witchcraft, a symbol of prayer? she's waving it like a magic wand, spreading the "fire". you cannot tell me that's right. what's next?

you're right it doesn't! Your judgement doesn't equal your discernment.
In case you missed that verse the bible says that our God is a consuming fire - that's not talking about judgment. On the day of pentecost the symbol of the spirit decending was fire on their heads. And the people of God were lead with a cloud by day and a fire by night. So your overstatement weakens your point. There is a fire of judgement but a fire of love and presence.

God is a consuming fire. His jealousy for us is like fire that devours. He is a wall of fire about us to protect. His eyes are like a flame of fire. Fire accompanies the Lord, the Holy Spirit and is the appearance of the Glory of God. It is a symbol of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. God makes His ministers as flames of fire. Our faith is tested as gold in the fire. The seven Spirits of God are like seven lamps of fire burning before the throne.

As Christians we SHOULD want God's judgments, because if we allow HIM to touch those places in us that are hay, wood and stubble (1 Cor. 3:12)only the pure will remain. Fire is used to purify metal, such as gold. (Zech. 13:9) Read Hebrews 12 which talks about the chastening of the Lord, which is NOT pleasant, but brings about a fruit of righteousness. And the last verse in Hebrews 12....'for our God is a consuming fire.'
Flags are meant as a prayer just like singing in worship can be.
