Gerard Barbeau was a boy singer who was born in Quebec, Canada in 1936. His career lasted only 3 years 1949 to 1952. I presume this song should have been recorded around 1950.

Barbeau died of pneumonia at the age of 24. He is best remembered for playing a boy much like himself in the Canadian film "Le rossignol et les cloches" (1952). There are some quite charming scenes in this film, but I doubt that it was ever shown outside of Canada.
