Before the cuckoo came into vogue many other animated figures were used on Black Forest clocks. Bell, ringing monks, laughing faces, and the dumpling eater were charming examples.

This clock is an authentic replica of a Black Forest clock of the early Nineteenth Century. The Hand-carved and hand-painted figure eats a dumpling, counting the hours and once on the half-hour. His eyes move, arm moves, dumpling moves , and the mouth opens and chews. This clock features an enamel dial, antique brass weights. Also available is a chef figure.

The Dumpling Eater is by Rombach und Haas.
