I drew a zebra on linoleum and this is a demo of carving and printing with it. I should have used a metal plate to spread the ink but I didn't have anything handy. Not meant to be a how-to - I will do one of those when I have more time.

  • I dont get why you just dont roll the ink on to the plate...

  • @etheangel2220 I didn't really know what I was doing when I made this. I have learned a lot since then and should probably do a new video :)

  • You call this a demo in the info box. Respectfully the speed and lack of audio do make it a poor demo for those who came here looking for a demo. Why not create separate videos. 1 for the carving, 1 for applying the ink, another showing the actual printing

  • Thank you for the comment. You're right - this isn't very effective as a tutorial. I also did some things poorly and following my example could cause injury.... I'll do another video next time I do some lino carving / printing.

  • Can anyone say to me witch type of ink should be use in this kind of print?

  • You need print making inks - look for block printing or lino printing inks at your art store. (They can direct you)

  • Thank you for considering to make better demos. I have to doubt I would be the only on looking for them. While the idea sounds simple enough, but my experience has been those who have been doing something for awhile, can pass on hints that the beginners can use. My interest is in the occasional small run of printing on both fabric &paper.

  • You'll get a more even ink distribution if you ink the block directly with the brayer as opposed to rolling out a slab and "stamping" the block to it. Rolling the block with the brayer also gives you more control of an edition.

  • Fantastic. I have to do one this semester and now I see how you do it.

  • I'm carving my first linoleum tonight in school. Ah so I see how it's done! Cool video! Nice effect with the zebra.
