These gliders remind me of the sensation of learning to fly over 15 years ago. It is kind of like coming full circle, having to judge glide angles and concerntrate on flairing at just the right time. Of course it all happens a little faster than in the old days. Sorry for the retro music - you can always turn the volume down...

  • I'm seriously considering changing to a 13.5 too.

  • At a guess I would say Nano has a 4:1 and Bobcat 5:1 glide. Off season I weigh 86 kg.

  • I think the glide between the 13.5 & 15 is quite similar with my weight. The main diference is being able to soar a little easier on the 15. I have only flown the 13.5 once and it was fantastic with the extra loading, it felt a little more settled than the 15. The Bobcat is a good mix of speed and glide, if I were to buy again I think the 13.5 would be my pick. If you are after any more glide than these you would need to be looking at small paragliders like the Yeti etc.

  • O well ive taken the plunge and ordered a Bobcat 13.5 to be flown at 90kg all up, should be fun!! :-) Flew the 15 with trims off the other day and it was fun but still a little slow for me, the 13.5 should be better with trims off and great for speedflying (thats going down hill not soaring). Cant wait, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • i see you fly the nano13 too, was the bob13.5 significantly better at glide than the nano? also whats your weight?

  • did you find much difference in the glide of this 13.5 to that of the 15?

I really want to get one of these next year, but am unsure which size will have the best glide and best average distance in different conditions. The 13.5/ 15 or 16.5. Have you flown the 16.5 yet? Talking to paragliders they have said that there is like a perfect wing loading for maximum glide with paragliders, like not too heavy or light. I'm really interested in getting maximum distance more than i am about speed.
