Dr. Patrick Treacy Chairman of the Irish Association of Cosmetic Doctors discusses his proposed recommendations to the Irish Government for regulation of the cosmetic industry in Ireland with RTE presenter Grainne O Seoige. These proposals include immediately setting up a Commission for safety and quality in Healthcare. This commission would have the power to regulate and inspect all establishments in Ireland that carry out invasive and non invasive cosmetic surgery and laser type procedures. This body would regulate, inspect and only register establishments that reached certain specific standards of protocol and care. The Commission would evaluate level of service provision, staffing, equipment, availability of support services and have powers to undertake enforcement action and to seek orders to revoke licences to practice.
