The Crescent City Stompers was a typical traditional jazz band playing during the early fifties and sixties in Great Britain and the rest of Europe. We were all young, self taught on our instruments and in awe of the early New Orleans jazz musicians. Our favourites,at that time, were Bunk and George Lewis (still are) although we also liked the classic jazz musicians like Louis (still do).
The video does not capture the musicians who played this music, except myself on trumpet and Mike Mayer on clarinet. The guys you see in these pictures, however, all played a major part in the development, success and popularity of the band in Exeter, Devon - Too many to include here.
Great performance. Nice seeing the accompanying pics, too:)
