Well done! Those are some tough chops to emulate. Back in the mid-70s I remember seeing a PBS show with Benny Goodman playing "Seven Come Eleven" with George Benson channeling Charlie Christian. This was before George became well known outside of jazz circles. It was magical. I keep hoping someone will post that video if it still exists. Meanwhile, you are getting there my man. Unlike us once aspiring rock guitarists, you have figured out that in jazz, practice truly does make perfect!

Great playing : )

@tonyksong Freddie just played triads, never a full chord. I never realised this until a few yrs back.. Don't forget..before Charlie Christian there was Eddie Durham. He is credited as the very first electric jazz guitarist. Some say Charlie got his ideas from Eddie Durham & Lester Young. Infact what you re playing here are Lester Young riffs that CC transferred to guitar.
All the best to you & thanks for the music!!

@tonyksong No problem..you deserve all the credit. Plus you're doing it on a solid Strat- type guitar, which is how i played Christian riffs back in 1973.
Proves that it's the player & NOT the guitar that's important.(Ha ha!!) Actually ALL those early electric Blues men like T Bone Walker, Pee Wee Crayton, etc stole Charlie Christian riffs and bent the notes rather than hammered or used glissando.
Chuck Berry took some from CC & T Bone and the the rest is history ..every rocker followed.

@Hucho Thanks! The A section is in Ab Major, and the B section goes G7 for 2 bars, C7 for 2 bars, F7 for 2 bars, Bb7 for 1 bar, then Eb7 for 1 bar.

That is superb! It's great to see someone young following the masters.
That riff became the root of Rock'n'Roll because Chuck Berry stole it, altered it and made it his famous signature intro.

@taildragger53 Thank you so much! I didn't know that bit about Chuck Berry. I'm trying to study my roots.

@ceira7 Thanks. Can't do it like Freddie Green, but wanted to fill up the space.
