When I played drums a metronome was an important tool to develop timing.
Since I cannot regularly practise with a partner the metronome has been a nice addition to just doing forms & test cutting.
I also feel just doing forms tends to 'lock' your timing & rythmn.
The aim to strike the 'Men' right on the beat.
Your swing can vary in speed & you can add other strikes to the pattern.

Variations can be with a Shinai & test cutting.

I have also created a number of 2x handed punching bag drills using other drum rudiments which I will post soon.
