That's why my commuter is fixed. My previous commuting bike was written off by a plastic bag. Plastic bag spat out from under a bus as I passed at 30mph - hub wrenched 30 degrees out of true in the wheel, mech ripped off hanger and taken round on the chain through the seat stay, bag reduced to small puck of solid plastic around the cassette.

@bbborp Nasty. My commute is up and down hill all the way which is fun and a super workout but I need all the gears. Tried one of those alfine hubs but found it to be rubbish.
