  • I'm sometimes terribly hard on other actresses that everyone fawns over but it is Meryl's fault because, like so many of you have stated already, she is so BRILLIANT (and I think that word is overused but not in describing Meryl). SHE is an ACTOR and a PHENOMENAL one at that!!!!

  • Oh, my God! She was so young and beautiful here. Okay, she is always beatutiful, and genius :)

  • ... I dont believe she is doing that out of selfishness, but out of tue love for her child... she realized that it WAS selfishness that was driving her in getting custody... then it stroke her that her child's best interest was in staying with his father... and she had the guts of doing what was right at last... and something else: has nayone has managed to watch this scene without tears in the eyes?

  • changed my life...

  • I failed to see her as a villain in this movie - her walking out was bad, but his 13 months or whatever hardly gives him the full rights to him - the smile at the end when he wins him back almost has a sinister victory for some kind of patriarchal society! It unsettled me - but it's a wonderful movie!

  • Dustin Hoffman totally should have beat the shit out of her, she's asking for it....

  • Streep plays a great villain in this movie, I've never viewed her giving the boy to Kramer as a gesture of goodwill, but rather as a bailout of parental responsibility. She is incredibly self absorbed, and realized that she didn't want to spend her life caring for anyone but herself.

  • 0:49 - 0:59, *sigh* brought SO many tears of joy to my eyes. Meryl..............your beyond amazing!!!

  • Her smile is terrific at the end :)

  • yeah theres no words for her! like dustin said she was terrific. for me shes everything!!!!!!!

  • @papineaun looked in wikipedia, the film was from 1979, which means it was filmed in late 1978 - early 1979, which means that she was 29
