Two tunes ("Da New Rigged Ship" and "Tam Lin") played on a Christian Sandner waldzither that has been modified to have a longer neck and 5 double courses. It is tuned GDAda
Hi - I also have a Sandner (4 double & 2 single courses). I tried restringing to give a more modal sound but the neck flexes and it's hard to get tuned & keep in tune. & holes in tuning pegs are too close to the headstock. Why did you change the neck? Only to get longer scale length? Action is high on mine. Did you get the angle reset? What kind of neck, from a guitar? Satisfied now? Do you lust after a Nyberg or Sobell? Or Crump? michaelbedlow@gmail.com
@michaelbedlow Hi - The previous owner is the one that had the neck changed so I can't comment on the qualities of the original neck. I believe he wanted a longer neck to get the tuning he wanted.
Thanks! No, the waldzither more normally has an open C tuning but I find my tuning more useful for the music I play. It's a fairly common tuning for celtic-type players to use on 5 course instruments.
