Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey takes on the feisty crowd packed into the Petaluma, CA Veterans Hall. This introductory video previews the venue, the crowd, some of the signs, and includes remarks from one sign-bearer fearing Marxism lurks behind a progressive agenda for reform, and the Congresswoman's opening remarks.

  • First thing Dictators /Socialist like Hitler, Castro, Chavez do or communist like the USSR did was take over health care. When the State controls your health they control you. Social programs are not constitutional yet the Gov crates them, and all are failures. One day Obama says Medicare works then the next it doesn't and its full of corruptions. SO WHAT IS IT. There is a health care bill then there isn't. Who wants a million pages of regulations and countless bureaucrats controlling health?

  • @olga2415 Well, you have earned my friendship, you put up with my backtalk after all and are not all defensive. I recognize you as a fellow traveler along the same road, but on a different path. My main point is: don't throw around words the right uses to disparage us, like "fascist", so easily. Peace and kudos to you too.

  • @Quintessentguy Well I apologize if I sounded "lazy" and "disparaging" about your video per se. To myself , rereading my comments, I sound as cynical as can be; but I think I have earned that cynicism. I have seen too many politicians sound sincere only to watch nothing get done or if done, worsten the situation for the public. I would never disparage the clear effort that went into your making these sort of videos. I am too "lazy", myself, to do it. Peace and kudos!

  • @olga2415 I hope that is true. I am referring mainly to your original comment, however, and if you were there, or listened to the entire video, you would hear Lynn Woolsey saying she would consider every opinion shared, and that has nothing to do with fascism. Would you have our reps just hang with lobbyists, like Boehner? You made a lazy, disparaging remark, which colors my video and the entire democratic process that it upholds, and that is why I responded and I have taken exception.

  • @olga2415 Town House Meetings where people can air their grievances are a means to give the population an erroneous sense that they (we) make a difference. The ones who make the greatest difference are those lobbiests who carry suitcases of money (and whatever other form graft can take) to benefit the legislator of the targeted legislation being discussed. This is a fact. All of us are not living in a dream.

  • @Quintessentguy I believe we share basic values. This is why I do not wish to get into an irrelevant confrontation with you.

  • @Quintessentguy I am not downplaying or failing to recognize the effort you put into making these videos at all. You misunderstand me. I simply made what I think to be a clarifying statement as to the intrinsic value of Town House Meetings. I know how little effect they have on the legislative process. No one is dealing with reality "in its entirety" because none of us has all of the facts; only pieces of it. One must stand back to see the overall trends that exist against basic liberties.

  • @olga2415 I filmed these videos, brought my expensive video gear, did much work at my own expense, as a service. All present had a chance to speak, the quintessence of a democratic process. There are 3 videos here, did you watch them in entirety? Have you looked up the meaning and discussions about "fascism"? I am not splitting hairs, I am dealing with reality in its entirety, and that takes work. You have not done any work, just formed more opinions based on your other preconceptions.

  • @Quintessentguy I beg to differ. There is no system of govt. that is a pure representative of its name. When Town Hall Meetings are held and nothing is accomplished but "more of the same" what would that be called? I am not interested in splitting hairs here. The form of govt. that is more clearly delineated in America and the world is leaning more and more clearly toward fascism. People get too bogged down in terms and titles and miss the overall TREND. Like you are doing.

  • @olga2415 If you are going to comment on my video, why don't you check the meanings of your terms used to make a point. Fascists resist any individual opinions that go against the state, so having a Town Hall meeting is a great representation of a free democracy, fascists would never hold such an "all opinions expressed" meeting.
