Delorean DMC12 VIN# 5462 which I have recently fitted with the new stainless steel sports exhaust. Other than the exhaust system which includes headers, no CAT and a very free flowing muffler I have also upgraded to the Volvo fuel metering head and CPR and renault dizzy to release some additional power. This engine has not been tuned since the fitting of the new parts and so is not yet at it's peak. The air filter is not on at the moment so you may notice some hissing noises, I normally have it on but while tuning it is in the way.

  • @dave32228 I paid less than £10'000 back in '99 but I would hate to add up how much I've lavished on it over the last decade, but I don't regret any of it, I love my DeLorean :-)

  • it looks like your putting alot of effort into the steering, does the Deloreon have power steering?

  • @ingreat888 No power steering in the DeLorean, but my steering efforts are mostly because the roads are rubbish where I live with a lot of cars parked on the road side. The steering is a really nice weight in the DeLorean as you have the weight of engine hanging right out of the back.

  • @jamesrguk oh ok ,thanks!. what about cruise control for those long trips? are parts for this car really hard to find?

  • @ingreat888 I've seen some people fit cruise control over in the USA, but in the UK we don't seem to go in for CC that much probably because we don't travel such great distances in our small country.

As for parts, almost everything is available, and parts are not too pricy for a fairly low production car, there are a lot of cross over parts for mechanical stuff, brakes from Ford/Jaguar, engine from Renault etc...

  • how tall are u ? i'm a big guy a little over 6-1 i ask you becuse your legs so close to stering wheel and if ever get my hands on one i dont think ill fit i john z delorean was 6-3 but im nearly 300 pounds

  • @steveandbobsho

I'm 6'3 and quite thin, but the steering wheel is telescopic and adjustable up and down and there is alot of adjustment on the seats, I fit fine and find it very comfortable on long drives, I think the video angle doesn't do any favours.

I know many owners who are considerably larger than me who have no trouble living with their DeLoreans.

Best thing is to get a long to a car show and find a friendly owner who will let you sit in one and try it for size.

  • nice car but come on put the steering wheel on properly!!!

  • whats wrong with your steering wheel?

  • That thing sounds really good. how much did you pay for your Delorean?

  • Hello ! Nice Car !!

See my Delorean rest.+ other cars.

    JVB.

  • The car look, sounds, and appears to have the performance I imagined but one thing I noticed is that the steering wheel does not appear to be back perfectly straight. What I mean is that even though you going straight the steering wheel appears as if your turning.

  • Never seen one in an automatic. Very cool.

Do you think it is possible to replace the engine with a much larger one? Though I probably wouldn't unless it was already an auto to my taste.

  • whats up with the steering wheel

  • Has you rebuilt the engine or considered replacing? What would you consider

a viable engine if you had to replace? I don't have a mechanics background but just figured that maybe a viable unit could be a flat 4 from Subaru or a Wankel from Mazda. I'm considering purchasing one (DMC) - just curious.

  • @ingreat888 power steering there is no cruise control
