Fitted the Hybrid kit a few days ago after doing an oven reflow and my XBOX is working great. With a standard x-clamp fix it would last about 10-20 hrs of gaming time before going back to the old fault(no video). Also mounted my DVD drive out of the case in a HDDVD enclosure and replaced it with a 120mm Coolink silent fan. Hopefully no more problems, so far so good. Great X-clamp kit though, highly recommended.

Can't understand why everyone is saying "its the xclamp! Its the xclamp!". In my test it was not the xclamp at all. I have a first gen xbox 360 and it finally failed. After researching various methods I decided to test it myself with an infared/laster thermometer. I found out the GPU heatsink is actually the thing over heating the xbox, not the xclamps. I bought a second gen gpu heatsink off of ebay, installed it and its been working for a month non stop. I also replaced the thermal paste.

PEOPLE. doing this on a RROD xbox 360 will not fix the problem.
This is to prevent RROD in the first place.
A re-flow of the solder joints on cpu, gpu, or HANA may be needed.
If you want to try this method, buy a freakin heat gun. most in-expensive way to fix virtually any RROD Xbox 360.

ok i just replaced the xclamps with the uniclamp and i still have rrod e74 what the hell
-
i put my xbox in a mini fridge and played it like that. is that healthy?

@fallenangelsd I totally agree with you! Almost everyone thinks that the X-Clamps are the flaw! They most defenitly are not! If it was the flaw, Microsoft would have fixed that problem a LONG time ago!!!

THIS IS THE WORST FIX EVER!!!
THIS WILL DESTROY YOUR XBOX FOR GOOD!!!

this is so complicated,,, when i first got the RROD, i hit like 1000 times and it worked, now it dosnt work period -.-

This will not permanantly fix any problems. It will, however, prevent many from happening. Install this properly onto a working Xbox 360, and you should never have any problems ever again... EVER!

@TheRogueMonk
That kit copies the old "penny fix" and does more long term damage than good. You must secure the motherboard in a level position, not flex it with rubber pads.

ok, can somebody explian me smthing, i've bought the uniclamp, so do I still have to remove the Xclamps?
TudyCoolboy 1 year ago
@TudyCoolboy
Yes you MUST remove the x-clamps, thats the only way to get the heatsinks off. Just carefully follow the tutorial on our site for help.

Team Hybrid??? Weren't you guys on Robot Wars???
What is this a wind up or what?
0.75-0.8 mm are you joking...do you think I carry a bloody micrometer in my toolbox????
This has got to be the most overblown repair I've seen.
Enjoyed the animation but will someone please kill that screaming bitch....

@mountainmickful
lol, thanks for the comments. the .75-.8mm thing is easy and u dont need any micrometer. either use the old x-clamps in the homemade version, or buy our backplate (uniclamp) which now comes with thermal pads. Both are the correct thickness. And sanding can be skipped by using a step drill bit to entirely remove the 2 taller standoffs if your in a hurry. I can do the entire fix in 5-10 minutes.
