  • So beautiful. Soul music.

  • I would love to learn tue uillean pipes. I am a player of the Highland Pipes, and I know these pipes are a whole different ballgame, plus very very expensive as all are practically custom made.

  • @storchnuts only gone from home 4years,i think after even 40 ireland will still be home,

  • @Maksimfan All I hear is the slow air. It's too great a range for smallpipes. An uilleann chanter can play in a smallpipe set, it doesn't take too much air for the smaller bag & bellows. Just need a special windcap so you can plug it into a smallpipe bag. Can't be mouthblown though, an uilleann reed can't take mouth blowing.

  • ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! These pipes and bagpipes as well stir something in me that I think is my Scottish heritage deep down...

I remember watching this when I was really young on the Riverdance VHS that we had (and still have) and thought even then that it was very pretty. Thank you for posting this!!

  • A question for all the pipers out there, I'll hopefully be buying a Scottish Small Pipe soon and I was wondering if this reel could be played on one? Or could it only be played on an uilleann?

I so like your description of this music "just ghastly beautiful with their dreadful and mournful groan" - absolutely perfect words - almost makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck
