I wonder where all the clothes of Jimi have gone...I never see him with the same clothes, he's like the Queen of England...

he is the greatest i wished i lived during this time

This is the second time I saw him play. The first was in a gymnasium at Arizona State Campus I think.I don't remember a lot of stuff considering the stuff I was taking. Anyway;he blew everyone's mind with just a small stage and a few lights. Watching him play was a trip in itself because he seemed to feel good, and he was a master showman. The guitar really seemed like an extention of his arm..He dropped straight down on to his back without missing a note. A master musician/sonwriter/performer.

He didn't see the large crowds when he walked on stage at 3am, and only seeing the first 5 rows of people.

Thats really interesting. Live versions of watchtower always fell far short of the studio version (which was a masterpiece) but i was always impressed with the isle of wight version. Serious props to jimi for performing a song like that in front of a crowd twice the size of woodstock. That takes balls lol

@jimistreets You are correct, I obtained a copy of the 01/14/69 Munster, Germany concert tape last year and it does contain Watchtower....I'd give it a C+ rating, as it's probably the first time Noel Redding ever played it and the first time the Experience ever performed it. Far superior live versions can be heard from Boston 06/27/70, Copenhagen 09/03/70, and Fehmarn 09/06/70. Jimi apparently had poor eyesight, and since the dots on the strat neck it'd be on the bottom, he would count frets...!

@diamondbackseye The truth is Jimi DID play "All Along the Watchtower" on January 14, 1969, in Germany. It always baffled me as to why he didn't play it more often, but then when I hear the versions he did in 1970, where he either messed up the words or started in the wrong key, I guess maybe that's a clue! If you notice, at the Isle of Wight in 1970, he looks at Billy Cox, then jokingly counts the frets as if to make sure he starts off right. On July 4, '70, he did start in the wrong key!

Beautful,
I cannot imagine what a chrystal clear recording would sound like, beter still live. missed this by 9 or so years.
Most importatantly is we have his recordings.......and of course Jimi's Spirit and blood is still with us !
Thank God !

Wow, I didn't expect that ending. The four chords at the end sounded like liquid magic. Every time he plays a song he makes it different, like a snowflake, and it never ceases to amaze me.
