Courtney Bennett - Moment Of Reflection Pt. II (Prod. By Teon)

My studio is down at the moment so I've been writing more. I'll be recording the MP3 of this SOON and it will be available for download for those who want it.

Just a few things that run through my mind... This is what happens when you study Philosophy and Ethics for a few years.

For those who are wondering, I've been raised a Christian and this is no way meant to offend anyone, I'm simply asking questions. Mainly these:

1. Why does a belief have to be something that is taught rather than something that is felt?
2. Why do we feel the need to conform to what the media want?

I'm having a moment of reflection,
Taking a deeper look into my mind with deep thought and direction
Looking into depth and all I see are these questions,
Evolving into complex conversation, about whether,
We're all created the same,
Does God really exist or is he just a mind state?
Or an aspiration to be a better person or
Is He just a figment of imagination?
Don't get me wrong I think something's out there
But what we're taught, is that really what's up there?
What if, what we're taught isn't correct at all?
If evolution is right, there's no such thing as The Fall so,
What's our excuse for this world full of sin,
If science is right, what do we believe in
What if what we're taught isn't exactly true,
Say what if red is green and then green is blue?
I find it rather intriguing how seeing is deceiving
And believing is now the new definition of perceiving
We don't have evidence or proof to prove the truth,
Just abuse and misuse of the language and confusion is bemusing.
We're using ideologies as facts but the fact is, it's just a tactic that's a habit
Manipulation our minds; chiropractic to our bodies
Whatever happened to honesty being the correct policy?
But we just stand and watch ourselves burn, combustion.
The way that we live leads to self destruction
Realising that we're all just productions of our surroundings
Built to conform; the construction of the mind, body and soul.
We're not raised by our parents, carers or teachers,
The media moulds us, gives us our features;
how to act, how to dress, how to live, how to think.
We're convinced that we're different but we're moving in sync
Coz if a trend comes in, we follow like sheep,
What happened to the leaders, Marcus Garvey, Martin L. King?
Remember what they fought for? Independence and rights...
and yet we still throw "nigger" around like there wasn't a fight
Like it doesn't carry negative terms of the past;
shackles and chains round necks because our skin was dark
But we can't let it go, we think it's cool.
Learn about your history. Take it old school.
We've got to stand up and be independent
We can't live and think for ourselves, we conform to the system
We forget about US and being TRUE to OURSELVES
So, we follow and we make fools out ourselves
Coz we embrace all these negative images,
polluting the innocence of the young minds and destroy them
Raise them on an immense scale of lies and false ideas of reality
To the point that seeing ain't believing
and insanity crawls and takes over our craniums,
our brains are infested with false facts to the extent there's no saving 'em
and science contradicts a large percentage of beliefs so is it necessary to pray for them?
To save them from hell if we're already here?
Where hope is lost, living in despair and fear
Because we're scared of conspiracies, symbols and shapes
Screaming that Illuminati is every musicians fate.
And it's crazy, on occasion, I feel like I'm just losing my mind
I'm being pushed to the edge and darkness suffocates the light
It's insane, my brain is on the verge of caving in...
Well, it feels like it and I'm in need of saving
and I ain't talking about going to Church and asking for forgiveness for my sins
Coz at the end of the day I don't know who it is.
I'm believing in and seeking for forgiveness in,
This conflict in my mind is just truly sickening
and it scares me coz the same nightmare reoccurs
and it just makes me realise how small I am in this world
and I'm trying not to lose it but confusion is bemusing
and it's hard to believe without having evidence to prove it.

It says in the bible that we do not compare to Gods wisdom and undersranding . Off course some things might not make sense to us but thats the whole point in Faith. If your having problems undersanding things that are being taught then ask a teacher why they taught you square root or something, you just have trust that theyr right, its the same idea.. Im not hating or anything but you brought up your points so these are just my comments on it..
