The Cintas Team Spirit program began hosting local area youth organizations at Xavier University basketball games in 2000. As part of the program, 20 children and five chaperones are invited to Xavier University mens and women's home basketball games. Our guests are treated to great seats, located directly above center court, as well as refreshments and a commemorative T-shirt. Participants are also publicly recognized on the court at halftime.
At four special games each year, a student is selected as the "scholarship shooter." Students are selected based on academic merit, outstanding attitude, positive behavior and involvement at school. These students are invited to center court to shoot a free-throw shot. Regardless if he or she makes the basket, they receive a $1,000 savings bond from Cintas to use toward higher education.
Cintas Marketing Associate, Brittney Kirk, who presented 8th grader, Myron Hampton with the check, said, "it really makes you feel good to work for a company that is so dedicated to being a good corporate citizen and giving back to the community". Myron, the scholarship shooter, hopes to one day become a doctor.
The Team Spirit program has evolved into a great program for the Cincinnati community.
