@TheSlingshotWarrior - reason is beyond most Liberals - attempting to clarify anything to these people is generally a futile attempt.

I am a liberal, and I know that love is indeed selfish. It activates the dopamine reward system in the brain just like heroin. Every person is as selfish as possible already, invalidating Ayn Rand's arguments of Objectivism. A person cannot be responsible for their own happiness because free will does not exist. How was Ayn Rand an atheist, yet not realize that free will cannot exist in this universe?

@RisenPhoenix68 No I just think she's very honest. All love a flawed, we are not perfect our love is not perfect. Look at the amount of co dependent, self destructive relationships around you.

@Usmannable What type of person values an object above a close relationship? A person who derives more pleasure from an inanimate object than from a fufilling relationship is a person who does not or has not experienced a fulfilling relationship. Sadly, in childhood, as with the rest of his/her life.

But what if my gadget IS more important to me more than my daughter or best friend? What if I am THAT selfish? I mean, the idea behind altruism is that human life is WAY MORE important and priceless than gadget whether you like the gadget or best friend/lover. Objectivism seems to say the other way around. If Gadget makes you really uber super happy, and you are indifferent to your daughter/lover,go for gadget.
Or am I getting it wrong?

Ayn Rand's Collective is still out there, controlling the world from the back seat. I show evidence here:
