Für mich schon immer eines der faszinierendsten Stücke Strawinskys, so kompromisslos visionär und modern!!
Wirklich auch eine sehr gute Aufnahme (hab ich auch auf CD). Michael Tilson-Thomas hat die Kantate auch einmal aufgenommen, gab's aber soweit ich weiß nur auf LP. Und die Boulez-Aufnahme ist leider wirklich nicht schön...

@martimtavares if you'd learn russian you'd see this cantata doesn't translate as king of stars but as 'little stars''. Besides, stravinsky loved to cast shadows and doubts upon his life, you can read his writings and find different versions of the same thing. Besides, scholars have found inumerous things that were simply false. sorry to offend your stravinskian masturbative feelings

@Mezzotenor is that answer for real? Who in this world are scholars to correct an autobiography? one thing is factual data, like dates or names that the author may mistake, another thing is the translation the author wants to give to one of his works.

Excellent recording - please tell us which. (I was disappointed with the feeble and tremulous singing in the recent Boulez recording on DG.) This is a fascinating and very difficult work. A common mistranslation of the title -- it's "Star-Faced One," not "King of the Stars" -- obscures the intent of the text, a mystical vision of Jesus after the Resurrection. A Dover re-print compilation of the composer's songs has this score with the accompaniment in keyboard reduction.
