Sometimes people take a song and cover it in such a brilliant way it becomes their song. Hendrix did this with "All along the Watchtower". UNfortunately some covers are execrable, in my opinion the Killers doing "Shadowplay" is one of those. The Big Pink fall into the first category, so what if you don't like Beyonce's version, personally I love this one.

No disrespect to Beyonce', but this is not a song best performed by her. Big Pink does a better job. This is not a made-for-MTV song -- read the lyrics w/ no audio and it's easier to see that. Beyonce' may be the wealthier, more influential entertainer. Big Pink are the better artists. Dancing girls pop star hairstyles/costumes don't even come to mind when you read this as a poem.
