I was hoping to get this video uploaded by the 1st to coincide with the release of the i-Pad. It didn't happen. Again, I was curious to see what it would be like to describe my i-POD in Navajo. I guess you could consider it a brief lesson in descriptive Navajo.

Sorry, no subtitles under the annotations yet. I'll be adding it over time.

FYI, newer technology is harder to describe in Navajo. In this vid, I basically described the shape, color, weight, etc., of my i-POD (described the physical characteristics). I went into a little detail about how it works & last of all, briefly touched on concepts, such as downloading & recharging.

In regards to concepts of "downloading," there are no offical ways to describe these things in Navajo. People in different areas use different words. What I present here are suggestions. Enjoy & Happy YouTubing!

Hope you find my attempts to describe this interesting.

  • Why did you say "160 GB" in English?

  • @550077 LOL! Because I don't know how to say that in Navajo!

  • there is no word 40,000 in naavaaho?

in my ojibwe language the number go forever

  • @bizarewigga There is but I think it helps to throw in some English words for Navajo learners so they will know where the nouns go in the sentence.

  • Thanks for your videos with Navajo! You're really the only one on YouTube who has any Navajo content.

Cool video! Hope we can get the ending annotations/translations~

Going to try to learn Navajo... just ordered some books.

  • @ocergnairb the ending annotations/translations are now uploaded! enjoy & thanks!

  • @RoyalKnightVIII I suppose Bina'adaałtzózí binaaltsoos wólta'í Manga (Japanese Manga magazine). I am not familiar with Manga.

  • @wobeck So how would I say Manga in Dine :)?

  • @Smartguy1992 I guess that's just the way we're taught to think, think about it, as if English was always meant to be this techno-language, theye didn't have i-pods during the battle of Hastings yo! Just keeping aboriginals in the past like always... :(

  • What a beautiful language.

  • Hey also are there any modern books written in Dine? Either translations or new books, of either fiction or non-fiction?

  • This sounds so much like Assyrians.

  • The word yee was said like 8 times

  • Wow, you are very handsome. Sorry, I know the point of the video is the Navajo. But wow! On another note, it is FASCINATING to hear someone speak a language that seems as old as time. I'm 1/4 Akimel O'odham, and I'd give anything to have my grandmother back so she could teach me the tongue.
