Climate Refugee Santas

Climate change is melting the North Pole and the reindeer are not happy. These Santas pay a visit to London City Airport to encourage passengers to consider using less climate-damaging forms of transport.
The airport staff are not amused (well one or two of them are).

You're mistaken to think that when oil prices go up, oil companies automatically make extra revenue and therefore become more profitable. Remember, as oil prices go up, it becomes increasingly unaffordable. As a result, consumers will economize and demand less of it. As a result, alternative fuels which may have previously been more expensive than oil, may become less expensive than oil and people will substitute. The only danger to oil supply is if Governments enforce price controls.

You forget that as prices go up the extra revenue makes it more profitable going for reserves that were hitherto too expensive. We will run out, importantly we need to change our "fuels of choice" beforehand, not so we dont run out,so we dont get any more naturally captured carbon into the atmosphere thus driving up the global temp more than it has already. Credible scientists believe that we are already on the cusp of going past the rubicon, lets not make it worse, eh.

It is virtually impossible for oil/fossil fuels to 'run out' because as the supply of oil/fossil fuels depletes and becomes more scarce, their prices will rise and thus becomes uneconomical for use

People will increasingly substitute more cost effective alternatives to oil/fossil fuels and this simple functioning of the 'price mechanism' ensures we will not have anything close to a 'colossal energy crisis' or any form of crisis

Your activism is noble however unfortunately it is unnecessary

Ah, I see. You don't care for the truth about climate change. As long as your energy crisis is averted, you are willing to spread what you know are possible lies.

You think COP is going to help the energy supply issue?? That's nuts! They want to simply take possession of the remaining supply FOR THEIR OWN USE!!

You're right, nothing in science is definite, although the evidence for manmade climate change is overwhelming (even if the 'climategate' scientists turn out to be child-abducting carbon terrorists).

The clinching argument for me is that even if the world's scientists are wrong, no-one denies we are heading for a colossal energy crisis because oil is running out.

So it is vital to switch to non-fossil fuel energy sources asap even without the climate issue.

You make the assumption that the UEA represents and oversees all climate change-related research. It doesn't. In fact, most people outside of the UK who can name 10 British universities would not recognize UEA as an academic institution. And do you really think the UN relied wholly on the UEA's findings?

In any case, the temperature data logged by the UEA's team matches Nasa's findings pretty closely.

Is evolution a religion? Is intelligent design a science?
