The Count Basie band could have made those so called " imposible "
trombone riffs that the comentator mentioned .

@Actionguy1 Ted Nichols composed and conducted the main theme and soundtrack of The Herculoids in 1967, not Hoyt S. Curtin. But Hanna-Barbera's musical editors used Curtin's score for Jonny Quest in allmost every action/science fiction cartoon they produced. Ted Nichols composed the soundctracks for:
Space Ghost & Dino Boy
The Fantastic Four
Birdman & The Galaxy Trio
Moby Dick & Mighty Mightor
Shazzan
But Curtin's music scores were present in each of them. He was that awesome

I want Hoyt's background music from the Hannah Barbera Godzilla cartoon. the man is a genius!

I used to wonder why marching bands didn't do the "Johnny Quest" theme, since it's so exciting and dynamic. Then I found out only the very best trombonists could even come close to playing it! Too bad. The full theme is pure adrenaline trapped in brass.

So amazingly imaginative, without limitations, yet so perfectly tasteful, exciting, and classy - Hoyt Curtin had it all. I haven't heard anything currently that rivals his talent. And no computers or samplers ; all was done with a great jazz orchestra, and his compositions / arrangements. Truly humbling is Curtin - a genius that few of the current "stars" know or acknowledge. I hope his family can enjoy the fact that more and more of us are "knowing" his genius and loving it.

My channel features fanvids I made with 'The Flintstones' and Mr. Curtins underscore has never sounded better. It would be nice if he were still alive and able to hear the music with todays technology.
