There are many ways to tie a BowLIne. This is BoatUS Marine surveyor Mike McCook's bowline. He calls it his TugBoat Bowline. One of the fastest we've seen.

  • This video shows a quick way to tie a knot which is very useful, though as shown, a regular bowline would suffice.

The tugboat bowline is very useful when a loop is needed in the middle of a long piece of rope, which WILL come untied after strain is applied. I've used these a lot for lifting and towing. There is a conventional method for tying this knot which allows more turns before the locking bend, though I haven't seen a video online for it.

  • I'm not impressed. please remove your video so people are not more confused on how to tie a bowline.

This knot will tighten up on itself and has absolutely zero elements of a bowline.

Go to my channel for a quick method of tying a bowline.

  • Tie it and look at it close, it has some elements of the bowline on a bight and there is a figure-8 in it.

  • Not actually a bowline, but it is a quick way to tie a loop in a line.
