The one thing I like about the pedal is that "sag" sound you can get with it by turning the warp knob down a little bit from the "normal" setting. Very "Van Halen I" sounding.
The one thing I wish is that the GAIN on zero was a lot less distorted, because I'd like to use it as a signal boost for the Dual Rectifier (it has SERIOUS headroom!!!) But I got the Blues Driver for that.

Sounds great. I found an original XXL of ebay for $45 and bought it simply because of this video.

@Gregrg7 Jesus! Now I do hope you'll like it :))) IMO it's an underrated pedal, it can really scream and the clean up is impressive. it doesn't like vintage style super clean Fender amps, btw it sounds BAD in every other amp I plugged in. Let me know your impressions, ciao :)

@ciclosonico I like it a lot. I'll be using it tomorrow with a Boss Blues driver or Route 808 AFTER it for solo (volume) boosts for my band reunion set, since we're using house amps.
I think it's a great pedal. Through the clean channel of my 2010 Dual Rectifier it's not bad. There is another XXL original video on here where the tone knob is at 10:00, and with my Rectifier, it is WAY more bass-y than his video. I'd like to know your settings for this video.

@Gregrg7 Ciao Greg, I think this pedal can sound a little "bass-y" into some amp, but in a good way. I don't remember my setting for the video, I usually went for Gain at 3, Tone at 10 (below noon anyway), and Warp neutral. Warp control is great, you'll find nice singing tones. Yes, zero Gain is too distorted because it's XXL eheheh

@ciclosonico One thing is for sure with the XXL, no matter what guitar you plug into it (a bright one or thin one like a single coil strat), or maybe the amp is bright and thin, that TONE KNOB can make ANY guitar sound HUGE if you need it to be. I usually play with the tone knob at 2:00 or so. RIGHT when the bass starts to come in. but I could easily take that pedal anywhere if an amp is available and dial in a KILLER sound.

@Gregrg7 I'm glad you're loving this pedal, it's one of my favourite stompbox ever! I had a 1994 Mesa Dual Recto, I remember XXL sounded great into it :)))
