Filmed on location in Vietnam, I drink a small bottle of wine into which a dead cobra has been placed to infuse the wine with a "unique" flavor as well as herbal medicinal qualities.

  • We drank some with a cobra and 2 scorpions in it, skipped right past a nice buzz to vomiting sickness :'(

  • @kingskibby That's terrible. I have a new rule of thumb with this stuff. If it doesn't taste of strong alcohol, fuggedaboutit!

It may be one of those things where your mileage varies dramatically from one shop to the next, with some using full strength alcohol and some using near water.

If 'cheat' the recipe they may use water or watered down wine. If there's not enough alcohol, the stuff inside can spoil and basically we'd be drinking a big gulp of bacteria :(

  • i got a bottle of this stuff off a friend when he went to Nam, he said it was a sort of medicine, i want to try it but im a bit worried it might make me ill, it contains a cobra, some sort of root, and some type of nuts. can anyone give me any advice?

  • @Rilyn666 Smart to question it. Best thing is to be 100% sure of what's in it. If you have an Asian herbal medicine practioner then check it out. Not every medicine is good for every condition. Also find out if it is meant as drink or a liniment.

  • Hi, sorry i found this post on Google, and I already got the wine from buy-snake-wine shop but i am now looking for wine or liquor with tarantula or other creatures, do you know where to find ? Thanks a lot.

  • @asianWINEcollector I don't have an exact shop location, but if it helps, rat infused whiskey and snake infused whiskey are used for medicinal purposes and can be possibly be had in some Chinese herbal shops. The way of applying them would be to put some on a cotton ball and then tap a bruise with the infusion. Sounds strange but I remember growing up, it really worked. The whiskeys also had quite a number of herbs in them as well. Best of luck!

  • It's 100% safe to drink AND eat. But to "cure" an illness I'd see a physician and see what he recommends. But I'd take a shot every once and a while just because small amounts are good for you and help cleanse the body of select toxins that are very hard to rid your body of. So it's safe. Take a shot and enjoy a rare drink(:

  • @notscooter952 Hi! No, it wasn't poisonous but it tasted horrible. Not in a "it's different than what I'm used to" horrible, but it was a taste of not enough alcohol to preserve the decaying animals and it tasted rotten like drinking death horrible, lol. It tasted like roadkill in watered down rice wine. I didn't get sick from it, but I'd recommend it more as a decoration than something to drink. The next guy might not be so lucky, lol.

  • is it poisonous?
