So I took out part of the twist that could be untwisted and backcombed the hair.

  • I should have tried back combing on the locs in the front of my head (must be softer there - taking longer to get going this second time around). On back combing - just another method of starting locs: it is all a choice and determined by hair texture. Why are folk upset when others take a different path ... in life?

  • @MsIndigoLove As the saying goes there is more than one way to skin a cat but people always want to divide and turn locing methods into an us vs them issue.

  • @supervirtuouswoman :) Yup taking the time to make videos and expose myself and my life to you all does seem to show that I have too much time on my hands. Perhaps I will do fewer updates to not waste anymore of your time on mine.

  • You rushing the process it seems like you have less patience this time aorund.

  • Ok. I really don't understand but ok. I've had locs for 7 years started with two strand twist...I know what they would have ended up looking like when they matured. That's not what I wanted this time around, but two strand twist was the easier way for me to start them myself. In fact I feel this set may take more patience because despite the appearance they r not loced and they do not have a twist to anchor to. But like my mother use to say I can show u better than I can tell u.

  • Shawnta...You are teaching me to think out of the box. We shouldn't stay in boxes...

  • Hey, its all good. Thanks for continuing to share your 'hair journey'. Backcombing? I've never heard of that until now. I will be interested to see how your locs develop of the next few months. Thanks for sharing.

  • so if the texture of your hair is soft you might consider braidlocs... i know the front half of my hair is soft and the back portion is more course. so the best way for me to start locing is via braids. so, you might try that ....
