For the past four years, the Downtown Staten Island Council (DSIC) hosts its annual community event called the Downtown Drive-In Movies (DDIM). For its 5th year, the DSIC will celebrate MUSICALS, and will feature nine (9) of the most popular musicals in American cinema history!

Beginning in June 2009 and running for four consecutive weekends, the Downtown Drive-In Movies will be held on Front Street in Stapleton.

In these difficult economic times, it is important to offer affordable family-oriented activities. This year, the Downtown Staten Island Council is hoping to garner enough support to make our Drive-In FREE for everyone to attend. Drive-ins provide a romantic and nostalgic entertainment alternative under the stars, and our intent is to create an event the whole family can enjoy! Drive-ins offer an experience thats more than merely seeing a MOVIE on the BIG screen; its about seeing the larger picture; Drive-in gives our local businesses the opportunity to benefit from the high volume of people that come down to the area to attend our event and helps highlight our communitys uniqueness, and changes the perceptions about our district.

It also draws a significant amount of tourists, many of which are coming to the Island for the first time. In 2008, the Downtown Drive-In Movies was a huge success, drawing over 3,500 attendees, which enabled many families, including parents and grandparents to share a fun activity with their children and grandchildren - its Staten Islands first drive-in movie in over 40 years!

In addition, your sponsorship will be used to support the many programs the DSIC offers throughout the year, such as our Adopt-A-Center, Clean Streets and Business Attraction Program. Downtown Drive-In sponsors and marketing partners receive a customized, comprehensive package of opportunities and benefits to meet their specific sponsorship and promotional objectives. Sponsorship will also be applied to fund a specific aspect of the Drive-In, such as film screenings, special events and receptions.
