  • almost 17K now :)

    great job..

  • :D :D

  • why is it called karnatik and not tamilian or ny othr southern? pl. tell me.

  • im no meastro but i guess because of its strict adherence towards the Raagas n swaras of Karnactic(classical) indian music. and its a mix...98% of is in sanskrit anyway.

  • "Sangeetha pithamaha" Purandaradasa, father of southern classical music was from karnataka and most of his composition is in kannada. May be that is the reason...

  • thanks for info...despite having interest in karnatic music...i have no idea how da system works :(

  • Raagam: Naatai

    Thalam : Ekam

    Composer: Muttuswamy Dikshitar

@soni99su it is not purandar daasa bcuz it has " guruguha" and that means it is dikshitar

  • Raagam is naatai ; thAlam is eka thAlam. I have seen many write it is aadi thalam. Maybe someone can clarify on the thaalam.

  • @moonmusicnartan

Indian Classical Music is divided into 2 parts

    1. North Indian Classical

    2. South Indian Classical (Carnatic)

South Indian Classical can be in any Language

  • really super........this is the magic of the karnatic music.

    i love this .....

  • @moonmusicnartan ... karnataka sangitam has got nothing to do with the state of karnataka ... karnam in sanskrit means ear ... ergo, karnataka sangitam is music that is pleasant to the ear ...

  • Actually it is not KARNATIC , it is actually KARNATA music . In KARNA means Ears ATA means pleasantness that means music that gives pleasant feeling to Ears called by KARANTA music not KARANATAKA music. This music belongs entire South INDIA. Please Don't misunderstand.

  • @swrb6 Karnatik or Carnatic music is the genre. The classical music style in South India (songs are sung in several different South Indian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, etc. and Sanskrit).

  • @moonmusicnartan Karnatik music was orignally all over India, but when the Persians invaded many centuries ago they also brought their musical instruments and influence. This lead to the separation in Indian music creating Hindustani (known as North Indian) and Karnatik remained in South India, Karnatik reflects many languages in South India as well as a specific style of Indian classical music. The style is all throughout South India, so it brings all of the South Indian languages together.

  • nopes not the reason y ...

  • @soni99su ... no thats not the reason y ... karnataka sangeetham is derived from the root word "karnam" which means "ear" in sanskrit ... ergo, it is music that is pleasing to the ear ...

  • @soni99su ... no thats not the reason ... karnataka sangeetham is derived from the root word "karnam" which means "ear" in sanskrit ... ergo, it is music that is pleasing/soothing to the ear ...

  • ragam naata, it is aadi thalam and not eka thalam. speciality of this kriti is that the kriti itself says it is in Naata ragam and Aadi thalam.... the line goes thus: maha kavya NAATA KADI priyam....
