The true costs in health and environmental pollution of hydraulic fracturing are exposed in this amazing documentary by Josh Fox. Everyone needs to know this information. Please support the filmmakers. Visit the website, learn the facts, sign petitions, contact your elected officials, share your story. Buy the DVD for everyone you know.

Original Trailer at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZe1Ae...

Hydraulic fracturing is common world wide, not just in America, and massively pollutes our fresh water supplies (see my other video on: Water - The Basics of Use, Pollution, and Our Health at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMmpg3... ).

"The largest domestic natural gas drilling boom in history has swept across the United States. The Halliburton-developed drilling technology of "fracking" or hydraulic fracturing has unlocked a "Saudia Arabia of natural gas" just beneath us. But is fracking safe? When filmmaker Josh Fox is asked to lease his land for drilling, he embarks on a cross-country odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and contamination."

Natural gas extraction is regulated but with numerous exemptions such as such as: 42 USC 300h(d)(1)(B) [underground injection - exemption for fracturing fluid].

You can check out a US Senate report (released in April 2011) on the chemical contents of these frac'ing fluids at:
http://democrats.energycommerce.house...

"An estimated 30% to 70% of the frac'ing fluid will resurface, bringing back with it toxic substances that are naturally present in underground oil and gas deposits, as well as the chemicals used in the frac'ing fluid." [Source: http://www.endocrinedisruption.com/ch... ]

@JohnSnevets Coal will never be clean! EVER! Neither will natural gas, or petroleum or even most biofuels for that matter. If we are going to reverse the damage we've done to our planet we not only have to switch to completely sustainably energy (solar, wind, geothermal) but we also have to drastically look at our collective societal values and why we allow our wasteful economy to ravage finite resources at unprecedented rates.

Last time i checked cutting down a couple trees to make room for a solar panel or windmill didn't leave hundreds of people homeless or destroy and entire areas bedrock AND water supply. last time i checked windmills and solar panels don't melt down leaving thousands of people with radiation sickness and kids with 13 toes, it's wierd we don't have the spine for that? if more people started to catch on it wouldn't be so expensive to pay for out power from a windmill or a solar panel

methane produced by fracking and tar sands is far more dangerous as is the methane from tarsands then carbon as a green house gas. add to that the feedback from warming and the methane release from melting permafrost doesn't bode well for the species man

You actually still believe what Fox is preaching even after the state of Colorado has stepped up to debunk his story. He knew the truth about the nature of those water wells before he did the movie and Omitted the facts as "not relevant" Don't believe me. Read the State Document online. Google gasland doc.pdf

Yeah it does not affect you because that's where your pay check comes from. I'm not an environmentalist, nor do I wish to become one.My language does not mean I'm a violent or bad person so stop with your bullshit. You know as well as I do that the government & these mega corporations don't give a damn about human being welfare or wildlife. It's all about raking in BILLIONS of dollars by any means necessary. You're just the puppet being controlled by the left or right hand.Documented fact my ass!

Wow you make a great environmentalist. Verbally abusive and foul mouthed. These peoples water sources were all bad way before anyone drilled in the area. Sorry. Documented fact in the local record years before. Too bad your bubbly personality won't hide that fact.

It's not from fracking, It's naturally occurring Biologically created methane. Not the thermal methane you find miles down.

Natural gas is clean and safe. Its renewable. The people thats water that started on fire isnt from gas wells. Water wells are only drilled 100 feet deep where gas wells are drill 1500 to 5 miles deep i dont think its from fracking

So, if the EPA is useless, then give them the same amount of money and personnel and weapons and legal power that we lavish on the US army and marines. It's a typical softheaded-conservative-nonthinking contradiction to blame the few governmental or civilian powers that fight for the environment for not doing enough for the environment, and then complain that they are "bullies" or "terrorists".
