Setting up a tuner can be confusing at first and a little frustrating. I know I got frustrated at first, but now I've learned and want to share with everyone.

So, this video is about setting up your tv tuner card. You won't have to go into the kubuntu desktop at all to do this.

It should be noted that this tutorial applies to north america and to using schedules direct. If you guys want any more specific videos, email me and I'll see what I can do

  • did u hava any problems after the cable digital switch this year?

  • Well, I must admit that I haven't been using LMCE for a while. However, I just moved into my own house and will be setting up LMCE and will eventually make some more videos. But regarding digital tv, I kept my analogue subscription with comcast. so nothing changed. I did pick up some new digital free stations in mythtv, but you should check out the wiki page on digital cable. I helped write it

  • hey how dose a tunner pick up channels do you have to pay money help!!!!

  • Well, to get normal channels, you'll need a cable subscription, like with comcast. However, you can use rabbit ears too. Of course, comcast cable costs money, but you get more. They also send the free OTA channels through the wire, so you can get a digital tuner and have great reception

  • you should not have had to do any of this.

  • (I'm afkpuz on the forums) the fact remains that many tuners will work in LMCE without being plug and play. Granted they won't be fully functional, but it's better than nothing. Either way, I had a tuner that was not PNP, but was able to be used. It's good to know this method.
