1999 brought pop culture to the apex of the late-'90s swing/lounge revival as well as the peak of Star Wars Fever in the electric months leading to the summer release of The Phantom Menace (which would, of course, turn out to be one of the most expensive wastes of time ever committed to film). Out of these seemingly unrelated forces came this bizarre confection, 'Cocktails in the Cantina,' with the most famous pieces from John Williams' SW scores re-done in full-on lounge jazz mode by the nine-piece Evil Genius Orchestra.

It's actually quite fun. Real musicians playing real instruments, with strong (if wholly tongue-in-cheek) arrangements and good solos. A little-known gem worth picking up if you can find it. I'll upload more in the future, but here is, of course, the theme played by the cantina band at the Mos Eisley Spaceport, recast in full-on Esquivel style.
