they SHOULD take it down piece by piece & reuse the materials on other structures, rather than engage in the unparalleled waste of modern society as is manifested in constant demolitions laying waste & ruin to such quantaties of less-than-renewable resources

I'm kind of neutral here. I think it's stupid that the council is wasting so much of our time and money when they could implode it and be much more efficient in that sense.
However I am all for reusing and recycling and agree that our economy has a waste problem.
