Cool stuff. I'm looking to do something semi-similar, but just for high res video imaging, panning in editing, unusual aspect ratios, etc. by far my greatest challenge will be sync of cameras, so I'm re-purposng broken cameras for prototyping....thinking of trying to start all cameras from same power simultaneously while having them all(two at first) run off the same crystal oscillator.

This is very interesting, have you ever heard of a company called Scalable Display Technologies? I think they could help you take your concept to the next level! They provide software for automatic edge-blending and geomtery warping.

Yes, I meet with Andrew and Raj from Scalable Display at nVidia's GPU conference last week. They had a lot of good recommendations for projectors, rear projection screens, etc. They mentioned they have done a 100 megapixel project for the Navy already, wish I could see that! Anyway, I think we will collaborate on some common parts for this project.
