Many people are carriers of genetic disorders that cause no symptoms in themselves, but can be passed on to their children.
Young children undergo extensive development in the first years of their life and so undiagnosed and untreated genetic disorders can have devastating consequences for the future health of that child.
The DNA Plus Baby 100+ (pronounced: DNA Plus Baby one hundred plus) test enables you to test your newborn for more than 100 genetic disorders and enables you to take preventive measures or begin treatment in time, should this be required.
This way, consequences like physical or mental retardation or slow development can be prevented in most cases.
Certain forms of enzyme deficiency, for example, can lead to toxic waste products when certain food constituents are ingested.
These toxic substances can accumulate in the body and damage organs such as the brain or the liver and can inhibit your baby's development.
If the disease is diagnosed in time, however, you can begin treatment with a specialized diet and clinical supervision to ensure the best possible development for your baby.
Preferably you begin testing shortly after birth to ensure the best possible treatment right from the start.
The longer you wait, the fewer options remain for prevention or treatment, so that after the age of 5 or 6 it could be too late to influence the development of a malformation effectively.
This is why this test is recommended for children up to the age of 5.
What is special about this test is how easily you can begin testing your child.
The early signs of these diseases are detected through abnormal metabolites in the urine.
The urine sample can easily be taken using one of our filter strips and then subsequently posted to our laboratory.
The sample is then analyzed using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. This way any abnormalities in the urine , that are signs for a genetic disorder , are detected.
Take charge of your babies health and start with genetic disease prevention today.
