@tkaye2 KOMO was using what was called an "open set" in which there was no desk. A closed set has a desk.

I noticed that KATU and Seattle sister-station KOMO were used the same character-generator. KOMO was still using art cards to luma key their reporters' names in a distinctive typeface, however. Their sets look like they were probably designed by the same person, too (the colors are very similar)... except KOMO used what looked like waiting room furniture instead of a traditional newsdesk.

Legendary Portland anchorman Richard Ross is also seen here. Jenkins spent so much time doodling on that infrared photo that I nearly fell asleep! He was filling in for popular meteorologist Jim Bosley.
