Who is the soloist ? (pianist)

who is the pianist?

everything went perfectly, until the sudden, mood-destroying Eb notes at the end :\

This used to be the theme of I believe a CBS TV westerns (cowboy ) afternoon session and it caught my fancy as a really great masterpiece by d'Indy. A rich blend of the piano. It can get to you as melodies well developed. Imagine a good western out of old film stock.

Hopefully we will eventually get the first movement of this reading - in the meantime we have other complete performances on YouTube.
Influence on Hollywood? I am familiar with Robert Russell Bennett's Down to the Sea in Ships, a five movement suite wherein the second movement directly reminds me of D'Indy. I managed to tell this to RRB and he was moderately pleased, stating that he generally liked D'Indy. Of course, his studies with Nadia Boulanger would have exposed him to this music.

This is wonderful, but what happened to the first part of the Symphony?

I love this piece! It is truly great, and superbly crafted. I seem to hear what Hollywood would later copy so often at certain points. Did those Hollywood composers (the better among them) admire the work of D'Indy? Listening to this, I get a definite "Celtic" feel (for lack of a better description) and I also am reminded of the time I have spent in the mountains myself.
I am coming back to this piece after not hearing for years. It was a favorite from my childhood. Romantic goodness!
