If bicycle helmets made cycling safer how come, here in Australia where bicycle helmets are mandatory, there is a higher rate of injury, then in Denmark or the Netherlands where bicycle helmets are NOT compulsory. When bicycle helmets became compulsory here cycling rates fell by 30%..
Anyone who actually does some research will see that as cycling rates increase so to does cyclist safety, and this is the most accurate causal link.

Why is it in Texas you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet, but you can get a ticket for letting someone under 12 y.o. ride without a helmet? Because bicycles are more dangerous and have more serious accidents than motorcycles? I don't think so. What a moronic idea! And morons like this are how such stupid ideas started.
Maybe idiots should wear dunce caps so we can see them coming.

People should have the right to wear of not to wear helmets on motorcycles bicycles just as seat belts in cars. The government has no right to order me to do something that I disagree with. It cannot harm anyone but myself if something happens so they have no right to make me wear something for my safety.

Shame on you, pushing for helmet legislation. I suggest researching more pro-helmet research versing anti helmet law research data, as you haven't read enough facts. A dead victim you think is a brain injury when you seen brain dead victim wearing recalled helmets, have you bothered to look?

to answer your question about motorcycle helmet vs bicycle helmets. Because you are far safer on a bicycle than a motorcycle. Bicycling should be encouraged. helmets laws discourage cycling. Benefits of cycling out weight perceived risks.
The law should not be forcing people do what they do not want to do (ie wear helmets). The only people who want a law for this, or those with control issues.
You need to be more tolerant of people's choices.

Forcing helmets on cyclists is nothing more than a way for car drivers to transfer responsibility to the cyclists. Nearly all members of parliament in all democracies drive and never cycle!
